the catharsis is a digital literary journal founded in 2009 by Christine Allen and Jessica Bonet that showcases themed Creative Nonfiction, Poetry, Fiction, and Photography. The first week of every month, a new collection of works is published by our Staff, including carefully-selected Off-Staff submissions.

Our main mission is to supply writers and artists with confidence in their work. The editing process here is not an, “I say, you do” experience; it is a collaborative process between writer and editor. That is what the catharsis is known for.
